Autobiografia de um Surdo: revelações sobre necessidades educacionais

This experience report, situated within the field of Bilingual Deaf Education, aimed to present the autobiography of a deaf university student and analyze how the narrative highlights the educational specificities of this group. The experience took place in a course on Portuguese as a Second Language (L2) designed exclusively for deaf students, in which five participants produced autobiographical texts, one of which was selected for detailed analysis. The writing task fostered student engagement and motivation throughout the semester. Furthermore, it revealed the educational needs of deaf learners, such as sign language as L1, written Portuguese as L2, adapted teaching materials, visuality, bilingual learning environments, and the provision of Libras interpreters.
