Tecnologia assistiva para surdos sobre a insulinoterapia no domicílio: desenvolvimento e validação de vídeos

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a Chronic Non-Communicable Disease that requires lifelong treatment.Among the areas of the nurse's practice, one can engage in creating technological resources, such as videos, to assist in the health education process.For this, videos need to be accessible to the target audience.The use of Brazilian Sign Language in videos allows deaf individuals to access health information in an engaging and dynamic way.The aim of this study was to develop a series of educational videos on home insulin therapy for people with DM, both hearing and deaf.The development occurred in three stages: pre-production, production, and post-production.In the pre-production stage, a literature review was conducted; the story, script, and storyboard were created; experts were selected to evaluate the content and appearance of the storyboards; and the instrument used by the experts in the process was adapted.The content experts were health professionals with clinical experience in providing care to people with DM.A Content Validation Index (CVI) with a minimum agreement of 0.89 was the criterion to move to the next stage.Subsequently, video production, narration recording in Portuguese and Brazilian Sign Language, and appearance evaluation of the videos by people with DM were carried out.The target audience also evaluated a third video on selfadministration of insulin, developed in 2020 by the author using the same methodological pathway.People with DM were invited through a public call on social media.In the post-production stage, credits were added to the videos and they were finalized for publication.One Junior Expert and eight Master Experts, all female, with an average age of 39.9 years, validated the storyboard on self-monitoring of blood glucose with an overall CVI of 0.98.Another group, consisting of five Master Experts, all female, with an average age of 37.4 years, all nurses with an average of 12 years of professional experience, and 6.8 years working with D...
