QUEERTILS: Discursos sobre gênero e sexualidade na comunidade surda brasileira

Based on Santos (2019), this article presents interviews with queer/non-heteronormative sign language translators and interpreters (SLTI) in Brazil, examining the perspectives of Deaf individuals on the intersections of gender identity, sexual orientation, and their professional roles.Using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) as a methodological lens, the study reviews segments from semi-structured interviews with three professionals, highlighting the challenges they face, including prejudice, sexism, hypersexualization, and invasive curiosity about their personal lives.The findings emphasize the urgent need for greater inclusion and recognition of diversity in interpreter training programs and within the Deaf community.This research contributes to Translation Studies by introducing intersectional insights regarding identity and embodiment in Brazilian Sign Language interpreting.
