O Uso de Classificadores na Libras para a Construção de Conceitos sobre Ligações Químicas: um estudo semiótico

Teaching Chemistry in a school that aims to be inclusive of deaf people involves the work of the Educational Translator/Interpreter, who needs to express complex and abstract concepts in Brazilian Sign Language - Libras that, sometimes, do not yet have a specific sign-term. At this context, there is a recurring use of classifiers to represent chemical phenomena and their subjects in Libras. Therefore, this article proposes to discuss, based on C. S. Peirce's semiotic theory, linguistic and semiotic aspects in the use of classifiers linked to the concept of 'chemical bond' and its relations with the production of meaning. The data were obtained in a Chemistry class with the theme 'Octet Rule', in the 1st year of High School, with the presence of a deaf student, in which, through filming that directed the focus on an Educational Portuguese Interpreter /Libras, it was possible to verify that the classifiers appeared as a productive resource with regard to the progressive construction of the concept of chemical bond and other terminologies that connect to such chemical phenomenon.
