O lugar do ensino da Libras nos cursos de Licenciatura em Educação Física nas Instituições de Ensino Superior no estado de Pernambuco

The teaching of Libras in undergraduate courses in Physical Education in the state of
Pernambuco is still gaining its space, even with the diffusion in society the language
has not yet been recognized in an effective way in the academic circles, due to some
factors that permeate this process, for measures to change that framework. The
present study seeks to analyze the socio-historical determinants of the teaching of
Libras in Brazil in order to understand the role that Language occupies in the training
of Physical Education teachers in Pernambuco. This paper is about a Documentary
Analysis. Firstly, we conducted a survey of higher education institutions offering a
Licentiate degree in Physical Education in the state of Pernambuco. Soon after, they
were listed which institutions offered the discipline of Libras in its academic
formation, being established through the analysis of the curricular grade of the
courses. Then, a search was made in the repositories of the researched institutions
to verify which of these produced works related to Libras in recent years. The
analyzes carried out so far have provided us with the development of a reflexive
study of the data obtained to understand the assumptions about the teaching of
Libras in higher education institutions in the state of Pernambuco. Finally, the
research made possible the understanding of the socio-historical determinants of the
teaching of Libras in Brazil and its contribution to teacher education and education of
the deaf in Pernambuco, as well as to understand the aspects involved in language
teaching in higher education institutions in the state and reflect on the historical
process of teaching in the country as an inclusion policy provided by law. In this way,
we must fight even more for policies that guarantee space for the growth of Libras in
our country, making the whole population know the language as a means of great
inclusion.
