Resumo
The discussion of inclusive pedagogical practices for deaf students is important for promoting student leadership and facilitating collaboration between educators and the school community.Addressing the specific needs of deaf students requires adaptations in the teaching of Science, particularly Chemistry.Inclusive pedagogical strategies are guided by Brazilian educational policies that support the inclusion of students with disabilities, with a focus on the role of Specialized Educational Assistance (SEA) and teacher training to address the specific demands of deaf learners. This study explores an inquiry-based methodology for teaching Chemistry, with the aim of developing the scientific mind of deaf students in an inclusive educational setting. The research was conducted in a bilingual school in São Carlos, SP, and focused on inclusive and interdisciplinary practices. The main objective was to examine the contribution of the inquiry-based method to the learning process of deaf students. This was achieved by implementing experimental activities and analyzing the responses of students to this approach. The theoretical framework draws on Gaston Bachelard's concept of epistemological obstacles and the development of the scientific mind, emphasizing the role of abstraction and language in scientific learning. The methodology used a qualitative approach, employing data triangulation through questionnaires, participant observations, and activity reports. The analysis highlighted the effectiveness of the inquiry-based method in encouraging student engagement and enhancing their understanding of scientific concepts.Initially, student responses to scientific phenomena were brief and lacked depth. However, after participating in the activities, students demonstrated a greater ability to explain phenomena using more detailed concepts and reasoning. This research proposes a Chemistry teaching model that combines inclusive pedagogical practices with inquiry-based methods, aiming to sup...
