Cinema para LIBRAS : reflexões sobre a estética cinematográfica na tradução de filmes para surdos

Audiovisual translation has gained more and more space in Brazilian society, mainly due to its accessible character and the advancement of legislation on accessibility.The law 13.146 of 2015 in its article 42 states that it is "the right of the disabled person to have equal access to culture with other citizens" (BRAZIL, 2015); this implies that audiovisual productions must be available in an accessible manner.Regarding the Deaf, the legal framework establishes that the Brazilian Sign Language (LIBRAS) is the official means of communication of this Community and that Portuguese must be respected as a second language.For the Deaf, the most common forms of audiovisual accessibility are subtitling and the Sign Language on Screen, the former privileging Portuguese, the second language of the Deaf, and the latter privileging the Brazilian Sign Language, the first language of the Deaf.In this sense, the work aims to investigate the Sign language on Screen as a translation solution that guarantees the broad access to cinema for the Deaf Community through a model that favors the Brazilian Sign Language, contemplating the linguistic specificities inherent in viso-spatial languages, Observing with caution the aesthetic premises of the cinematographic works and the respect to the Deaf Culture.Starting with the model of the Sign Language on Screen that we developed in the "Accessibility Guide for audiovisual productions" of the Department of Culture, we prepared the translation of the short film "I don`t want to go back alone", by the director Daniel Ribeiro, who relates the daily life of Léo, A young blind man, his two friends Giovana and Gabriel and the awakening of the sexuality of the two boys.I consider for the project a translation that respects the cultural aspects of the target public, in the case, the Deaf people, I understand that the translator and interpreter of LIBRAS, when translating do not only consider the language, but also the culture and history of the targ...
