A mulher surda em Cinderela Surda : uma análise da ideologia da personagem

In this dissertation we have developed an analysis of the fairy tale Deaf Cinderella, based on literary and feminist theories and Mikhail Bakhtin's studies of verbo-visuality. A verbo-visual analysis was carried out in order to achieve the following general objective: to dialogically analyze the occurrence of feminism in the story Cinderella. And, the specific objectives: to verify the presence of feminist ideology in the story Deaf Cinderella; to ascertain the position of women in the story Deaf Cinderella; to verify the relationship between the women in the story; to investigate how the story makes the experiences of deaf women visible; and, to analyze how the story articulates issues of deaf subjectivity. It also includes a first-person narrative addressing the experience of the Deaf researcher. This brings us to the research question: is feminism present in the story Deaf Cinderella? The methods used include qualitative analysis of the texts and visual elements present in the narrative, using Bakhtin's categories to understand how these layers of meaning are constructed. As a result, the story of Deaf Cinderella, an adaptation of the classic tale Cinderella, has been modified to reflect elements of Deaf Culture, such as the presence of sign language and the representation of deaf characters. These adaptations are important for promoting inclusion and highlighting specific cultural aspects of the deaf community. However, when we analyzed the gender relations within the narrative, we noticed that the dynamic between man and woman still reproduces patterns of female submission, similar to the original tale, showing that traditional gender stereotypes remain present in the story.
