A DESCRIÇÃO DO LÉXICO DAS CORES EM LIBRAS: QUESTÃO DE VARIAÇÕES

The present master's research aims to describe the linguistic variation present in the signs of the primary colors (red, blue and yellow) in Libras when associated with an image and when not associated (in its "pure state"). For this, ten employees from the regions of Campo Grande and Dourados were interviewed, of both sexes, aged between 20 and 41 years, with different degrees of knowledge of Libras and all with complete high school education. The method applied to this research is qualitative. In the beginning, a questionnaire in Libras was divided into two parts and sent to the ten research collaborators. The first part consisted of questions about name, age, how old they learned Libras and who taught Libras to this person, while the second stage was ordered by questions regarding primary colors. The data were collected through videos received by the WhatsApp platform. After data collection, all responses were analyzed and described in tables in the body of the text, whose main theoretical framework is Quadros and Karnopp (2004). The data showed that the linguistic variation in colors suffers different influences such as age, level of education and fluency in Libras. Younger employees, on the other hand, signaled the color along with an object or adjective, such as "light" or "dark”. Of the four male collaborators who learned Libras in childhood, three associated the colors with an object and only one volunteer over 30 years of age associated the color with adjectives. The color most associated with the adjective was the color 'yellow', while darker colors such as 'blue' and 'red' were associated with other images. The women had late contact with Libras: one associated the colors with the adjectives "light" and "dark" and the other associated it with other images. Both completed high school.
